The craft beer boom in the UK has plateaued with just 8 new breweries opening in 2018 compared to the 390 added the year before.

More than 400 new breweries opened in the UK in 2017, almost 100 fewer than in the previous year according to the brewers Association.

The number of distillery businesses in the UK jumped 30% in a year from 131 in 2016, to 170 in 2017, says UHY Hacker Young, the national accountancy group.

HMRC has confirmed that 326 soft drinks manufacturers have been hit by the sugar tax according to data held by national accountancy group UHY Hacker Young, while alcoholic spirits remain safe from such legislations.
